"Launch out into the deep and fish" Jesus
"On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat" (Luke 5:1)
And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, 'Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.' 5 And Simon answered, 'Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.' 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. . ." (Luke 5:4).
And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him" (Luke :10-11).
Launch out into the DEEP
“He called out, 'Friends, have you caught any fish?' “No,” they replied. 6 Then he said, 'Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get plenty of fish!' So they did, and they couldn’t draw in the net because there were so many fish in it" (John 21:5-7, NLT).
These were men who were fishermen and they knew that if you're fishing with nets, 10 feet does not make any difference. Ten feet makes a lot of difference when you're tied in with Jesus Christ, the son of the living God.
What are we called to do? FISH!
This is the first CALL that Jesus made to people.
Mark 1:17, "Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Matthew 4:19, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Luke 19:10, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
The LAST COMMAND Jesus gave His FOLLOWERS: "Go into all the world."
Mark 16:15,NLT, "He told them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.'"
Acts 1:8 NLT, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
God is at work in the EARTH For one main reason: The HARVEST of SOULS.
2 Peter 3:9 ESV, The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
We pray:
Holy Spirit show me how to throw my net on the right-hand of the boat. Show me how to reach these sons and daughters.
God says:
You already know how to fish, just as Peter and the men knew how to fish. They were not catching any until I arrived. I put the fish in the net. I will put the fish in Your net and there will be so many that everyone will declared, ‘it is the Lord.’”
John 3:16, 17, NKJV, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
