I am in Germany again this Thanksgiving Day and it is 4am. What do I do when I can’t sleep due to jet lag on Thanksgiving morning? I get up and give thanks.
Where do I start and where do I end? I think my thanksgiving is endless. There is so much in my life to be thankful for and so many people I love whom I am thankful for. It would be an endless task to list everything and everyone.
I am thankful for . . .
#1. Jesus and Salvation: That peace that I have by knowing I am saved through the shed blood of Jesus has to be #1 on my list. Thank You Jesus for saving me and choosing me to serve in Your kingdom work.
#2. My Family: As I was in a market yesterday, I saw families from so many cultures and nationalities. There were local German families, European families from many countries, Middle Eastern and African families. I thought, how amazingly God has built the family into the human experience. I cherish the wonderful family God has allowed me to share life with. My wife Janet, our children, their children, our extended family and our Christian family. My life would not be complete without each and every one of you. I love each of you so much.
#3. Health: There are so many this Thanksgiving Day, who are experiencing health issues. I pray that God will comfort and heal you. I see so many wonderful people who live with physical challenges and yet, many times seem to be the most thankful. I applaud each of you. I thank God for the health that I feel today.
#4. Finances: This world is filled with desperate needy people. Millions of displaced people around the world, living in refugee encampments. Many millions more living with daily hunger, fear, inhumane treatment and the needy list goes on endlessly. I am so thankful to You Father God for always providing food on our table, a home to live in and the finances to take care of the needs for living. I feel like the Apostle Paul when he said, “I know how to live with a little and a lot . . .My God always supplies for all of our needs according to His riches in glory.” (Philippians 4) That you Father God for all of Your gracious provisions.
#5. Friends: I am so blessed to have life-long friends. I am thankful for each of you today and every day. This life that I am living would not be complete without each one of you. I can’t name you all in this short Thanksgiving blog, but know that in my heart there is a place for you.
This is what I call a Five-Star life: Faith, Family, Fitness, Finances & Friends. Thank You Father God for your grace and mercy this Thanksgiving Day. I have one special prayer:
“Come quickly Lord Jesus.”
