What Ezekiel Saw Coming – Prophecy, Prayer & Purpose
The Bible says in the last days, the whole world will focus on Israel. This tiny nation, no bigger than New Jersey, dominates the headlines.
The Bible prophesied that Persia (modern-day Iran) would be Israel’s enemy. Ezekiel 38 provides a detailed prophetic picture of events that continue to unfold today. What’s happening isn’t random; it’s part of God’s eternal plan. This is not the time for the Church to be afraid. This is the Church’s time to shine.
Ezekiel 38:7–9 LEB states, “. . . in the last years you will come to a restored land from the sword, gathered from many peoples on the mountains of Israel which were as permanent ruins but from peoples it was brought out, and they will dwell in safety, all of them. And you will advance like a storm; you will come, and you will be like a cloud covering the land, and all of your troops and many nations along with you.”
Ezekiel 38:10 LEB notes, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil plan. You will say, ‘I will invade a land of unwalled towns; I will advance against those living quietly in security—all of them living without walls and barred gates.’”
1. A Restored Land
Ezekiel prophesied that Israel would be restored “from the sword,” gathered from many nations. This significant event occurred in 1948, after almost 2,000 years of being scattered. It was a land in ruins, but God brought it back to life.
2. Unwalled Towns = Modern Times
Cities without walls? This is a modern concept. In ancient times, every city had walls for protection. Ezekiel saw modern Israel in his prophetic vision.
3. Persia (Iran) Was Once an Ally
Before 1979, Iran and Israel were close allies. Iran supplied oil to Israel during the Six-Day War. They even collaborated on a weapons project. However, the Islamic Revolution in 1979 changed everything overnight. Iran became Israel’s #1 enemy, just as Ezekiel prophesied.
4. This Prophecy Is Being Activated
On April 14, 2024, Iran launched a direct missile attack on Israeli soil. This unprecedented event marks a historical shift. What we are witnessing today is not a one-time occurrence; it is a continuation of long-standing tensions. The world has become deeper into this conflict today (April 22, 2025) than it was yesterday, especially after US strikes on Iran's nuclear sites.
The Bible Makes It Clear
Jesus spoke about the last days, saying, “Look at the fig tree… Watch the signs.” Daniel received visions of the end. Peter’s first sermon in Acts warned of the last days: “I will pour out My Spirit…” Paul taught prophecy to every church he planted. John wrote Revelation so the Church would stay alert.
If God didn’t want us to know about the end times, why did He say so much about them?
More Scriptures
2 Peter 3:9–10 ESV tells us, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief…”
1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 LEB states, “Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need of anything to be written to you… for you yourselves well know that the day of the Lord is coming in the same way as a thief in the night. Whenever they say, ‘Peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will overtake them…”
Luke 19:41,44 NET shares, “Now when Jesus approached and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, ‘If you had only known on this day, even you, the things that make for peace…because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.’”
Philippians 2:14-15 ESV encourages us, “. . . that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.”
Prophecy proves God is in control. These aren’t just signs of war; they’re signs of purpose. God is drawing people to Himself from all people groups in the world: Jews, Persians, Arabs, Asians, Europeans, and Americans. This is the time for the Church to shine.
Conclusion: The Forward Movement
This world isn’t going backward—it’s moving forward toward the Kingdom. Jesus is coming again.
