The Cancel-culture today appears to be a relatively new phenomenon is actually old school revisited. The original cancel-culture was when humanity sought to cancel Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.

Luke 23:13, Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. And after examining him before you, behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. 15 Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him. 16 I will therefore punish and release him.” . . 18 But they all cried out together, “Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas” . . 20 Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus, 21 but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” 22 A third time he said to them, “Why? What evil has he done? I have found in him no guilt deserving death. I will therefore punish and release him.” 23 But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted.”

If you look at this at only face value it would seem that the Cancel Culture has won. The Devil always tries to CANCEL God’s Redemptive Purposes in the Earth .

When the mob was canceling Jesus through the CROSS. GOD DOES THE GREAT REVERSAL . . .Really it was Jesus doing the Canceling

1. Canceled the Penalty of Sin on the Cross

Colossians 2:13-14, You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.

Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

All guilt, shame, pain, was nailed to the cross.

2. Canceled the Separation between us and God.

1 Corinthians 5:21, For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Matthew 27:51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

3. Canceled the Curse of Death

Galatians 3:13, “But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”

RESURRECTION iNTRODUCES THE CAN-CULTURE.

1. Can: Have RESURRECTION-FUELED HOPE.

1 Peter 1:3,21, In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead . . . and so your faith and hope are in God.

The word HOPE in English has declined in meaning. Usually it mens something like a, pleasant wish. Our use can be opposite of the biblical sense.

“I hope this will happen”= uncertainty.

“I KNOW this will happen” certainty.

The Bible Hope in the Greek means, Assurance of the FUTURE. Assured Anticipation.

2. CAN: Have HOPE for the Future

Not based on scientific advance or social social progress but on God himself.

Resurrected of Jesus does not offer just a Future in Heaven. BUT A WHOLE NEW HEAVEN & EARTH.

Romans 8:18-20 ESV, For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope

21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption (global warming, pollution, depletion ozone layer, ....) and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

It will be a world where justice dwells,

Every tear will be wiped away,

Death and destruction are banished forever,

Wolf will lie down with the lamb—

3. CAN: Hope for Yourself today.

Resurrection does not promise life no PROBLEMS. It does promise that we can HANDLE WHATEVER COMES.

Ephesians 2:1,4-7, As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins. . . . But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Resurrection CAN see life from different perspective.

Peace when world is filled with FEAR and ANXIETY.

Hope when the Dr. Says NO HOPE.

Joy when world says should be SAD.

Hope when all seems HOPELESS.

Isaiah 40:41 NIV, Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
