Truth and Error: Developing Spiritual Victories

You have two options to build your life on – Truth or Error.

Genesis. 3:1-6, Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.

1. 1. 1. There is a spirit of truth and spirit at work in our world.

1 John 4:6 NKJV, We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error

John 18:37-38 ESV, Then Pilate said to him, 'So you are a king?' Jesus answered, 'You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.' 38 Pilate said to him, 'What is truth?'”

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

John 1:134, The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:6, ESV, Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

“I.” Not a religion. Not a ritual. Not rules and regulations. I.

Truth is a person.

2. Spiritual behind Error at work in our world.

God is TRUTH - DEVIL is LIE!

1 Peter 5:8 ESV, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

Revelation 12:9 NLT, This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

There is POWER in WORDS!!! LIES!! ERROR!!!

When a lie is told - thrown out there - is is going to do damage!

John 8:44 NLT, For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Exodus 20:16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Proverbs 15:14, “A wise person is hungry for truth while the fool feeds on trash.”

Ephesians 4:14-15 TLB, “Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth.”

3. What do I do with TRUTH when I Get it?

(1.) Guard my mind with TRUTH

If Satan can get your thought life, he’s going to get you.

Ephesians 6:17, “Take the helmet of salvation”

1 John 4:1MSG, Don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God. There are a lot of lying preachers loose in the world.

(2.) Discipline your Thoughts with TRUTH

2 Corinthians 10:5, “Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

The Bible says very clearly that sin starts with a thought.

You sow a thought, you reap an action.

You sow an action, you reap a habit.

You sow a habit you reap a character.

And it destroys you.

The mind is a strategic battlefield

So those harmless fantasies are not harmless at all.

We are to guard our minds against temptation.

Jude 1:3 NKJV, Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Ephesians 2:19-20 ESV, “ . . .you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.”

(4.) Live the TRUTH

Truth is not just an intellectual exercise; it’s something you obey.

Proverbs 13:16 NIV, “The prudent man always acts out of knowledge.”

1 Peter 1:13, “Prepare your minds for action. Be self-controlled.”

Notice that self-control and mental preparation go together.

(5.) Spread Truth

Mark 16:15 NLT, “He told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
